Diego Piacentini
Former Commissioner for Digital Transformation, Italian Government; Former Senior Vice President of International Consumer Business, AmazonDiego Piacentini is the founder of View Different, an investment vehicle that supports entrepreneurs looking to scale their business and/or expand beyond their domestic markets. The core of his business career was with Amazon and Apple. At Amazon (2000–2016), he was Senior Vice President of the International Consumer Business and a member of the S-team. Prior to that, Diego joined Apple Computer Italy (1987) and was General Manager and Vice President of Apple EMEA from 1997 to 2000. Most recently, he served a two-year civil servant term (2016–2018) as the Italian Government Commissioner for Digital Transformation, reporting directly to the Prime Minister. He also led for the Italian Government at Innovation@G7 (Turin, September 2017).
Diego is currently the Chairperson of Vento Ventures, an Italian early-stage fund targeting exceptional Italian founders globally. He is also a member of the Boards of Directors of DoorDash, The Economist Group, and Voi Technology, a European multimodal micromobility provider. He is Senior Advisor for KKR and advisor/mentor to many founders and CEOs across Europe, the US, India, and other parts of the world.
His NGO affiliations include: mentor for Endeavor Global and board member of Endeavor Italy, which he co-founded in 2016; the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME), an independent global health research center at the University of Washington; and the Maasai Association, which supports education and health initiatives in Kenya.
Diego graduated with a BS degree in Economics from Milan-based University Bocconi in 1985.
