Even more benefits with IHME

We cultivate a workplace that celebrates achievements, respects and appreciates differences, invests in your growth, embraces collaboration, invites the voices of all IHME team members, and fosters meaningful connections among colleagues.

Flexible work setting

Work from UW’s campus in Seattle, Washington, or remotely from anywhere in the US or split your time between the two. IHME is committed to supporting you wherever you choose to be.

No matter where you work from, you’ll have access to:

  • Collaboration – Our team uses a suite of online collaboration tools to help your team work together well, building opportunities for structured as well as informal moments for you to meet and spark creativity.
  • Our team- and community-building initiatives include both virtual and in-person opportunities, to join in from wherever you are.
  • Development – We provide both self-paced, remote learning opportunities as well as live and in-person trainings to make sure you can grow your skills from anywhere.

Staff appreciation

Celebrating achievements and showing appreciation are core to our culture. Each year, we honor outstanding contributions through our Annual Employee Awards, currently recognizing excellence in six categories: Innovator of the Year, Rising Star/Rookie of the Year, Outstanding Growth, Community Builder, Data Champion, and Teacher of the Year.
Recognition happens year-round, too. Our “Hive Fives” program makes it easy for employees to give quick shout-outs to teammates whenever they do something awesome, whether it’s going above and beyond, lending a helping hand, or completing a deliverable. In addition, we provide recognition resources and funds to acknowledge and celebrate accomplishments, milestones, or achievements.

Professional development

We believe in continuous learning and growth, and we back that commitment with resources to help you thrive. From tailored onboarding to ongoing opportunities, you’ll have access to tools that support your career development at every stage.

Learning opportunities for all employees

We provide funding for professional development so you can pursue courses, conferences, books, and other learning resources, whether through the UW’s Professional and Organizational Development offerings or external programs. You’ll also enjoy free access to LinkedIn Learning’s full platform and, for eligible staff and faculty, the Washington State Employee Tuition Exemption Program, for classes at the UW or participating Washington State universities or community colleges.

Leadership development for supervisors

For employees who supervise others, we invest in robust training and ongoing development. All supervisors participate in the Strategic Leadership Program (SLP), a comprehensive leadership experience that builds essential skills for managing people, teams, and organizational dynamics. In addition, monthly Supervisor Strengthening Groups provide interactive sessions on topics like performance management, annual reviews, and giving and receiving feedback, creating space to learn, sharing best practices, and staying connected.
By offering these resources, we ensure every employee has the opportunity to grow professionally, strengthen their skills, and contribute meaningfully to our mission.

Connected community

Building community anywhere

We make it easy to stay connected and engaged, whether you work on campus or remotely. Our programs and benefits are designed to help you build relationships, share knowledge, and contribute to meaningful experiences.

We are proud to be ranked in the 88th percentile of our industry for work-life balance, and we are always looking for more ways to make it even better.
